Trouble flared at Thursday’s Europa League fixture between Nice and Go Ahead Eagles when fans confronted each other in the stands at the Riviera Stadium.
Shortly after Nice’s opening goal in the 10th minute, a number of home fans moved towards the away end, where around 1,700 Go Ahead Eagles fans were situated.
Objects were thrown and belts were used between the two groups across a plexiglass fence separating them, prompting stewards and police to intervene.
The situation was brought under control and the match continued without interruption.
The game ended in a 3–1 victory for Nice.
