Trouble flares at Derry City v CSKA Sofia Europa League clash

CSKA Sofia fans caused trouble at Thursday’s Europa League qualifier against Derry City.

The match at Derry’s Brandywell Stadium was delayed shortly after the start of the second half as a number of CSKA fans attempted to make their way into the home section following an exchange with City fans.

Some Derry City fans were forced to take refuge on the pitch, while both sets of players returned to the dressing rooms.

After a 14-minute delay, the match resumed. CSKA Sofia went on to win 2–1, sealing a 5–3 aggregate victory.

There had also been a brief confrontation between the two sets of fans before the match near a bar frequented by Derry fans as CSKA Sofia fans were escorted to the ground.
