Disorder broke out at the end of Saturday’s Guatemalan Liga Nacional final between Municipal and Antigua at the Manuel Felipe Carrera Stadium in Guatemala City.
Municipal won 1–0 on the night, but it was not enough to overturn Antigua’s 2–0 first-leg advantage, with Antigua securing the title 2–1 on aggregate.
Tensions flared on the pitch shortly after the final whistle as players from both sides became involved in heated exchanges. The situation escalated when angry Municipal fans invaded the pitch, forcing players and officials to retreat towards the tunnel.
The fans confronted police, with some also fighting among themselves, before turning their attention to the director’s box and throwing objects in its direction.
Police and stadium security eventually moved to restore order, while medical staff treated several individuals for minor injuries. The post-match trophy presentation was delayed as a result of the disturbances.
No arrests were immediately reported.
