Brescia vs Cosenza suspended as fans throw flares and invade pitch

Brescia fans threw flares and invaded the pitch during the second leg of their Serie B relegation play-off against Cosenza at the Mario Rigamonti Stadium on Thursday, forcing the game to be suspended.

Play was stopped in the 97th minute – less than two minutes after Cosenza had scored to make the score 1-1 and 2-1 on aggregate – as flares were thrown from the stands by angry Brescia fans.

A group of about 50 Brescia fans then spilled onto the pitch, clashing with police.

After a 30-minute delay, the referee decided to end the game.
