Hannover fans clash with cops during 2. Bundesliga game at St. Pauli

Hannover fans clashed with cops at the Millerntor Stadium in Hamburg during Friday’s 2. Bundesliga game against St. Pauli.

Armed with batons and wearing helmets, cops were seen entering the away end of the stadium about 10 minutes before the end of the match. It is unclear why the cops decided to go into the Hannover fans’ end.

Fighting then broke out, with cops using pepper spray and batons on Hannover fans who responded with kicks and punches.

Play was stopped for about four minutes due to the violence in the stands.

At least 15 Hannover fans were injured – some with head wounds. There have been no reports of any arrests at the moment.
