Several fan disturbances occurred across European fixtures in England this week, with trouble reported at Arsenal vs Bayern Munich, Aston Villa vs Young Boys and Nottingham Forest vs Malmo.
Arsenal v Bayern Munich
Before Arsenal’s Champions League fixture against Bayern Munich at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night, stewards and police were seen confronting fans in the away section.
The incident took place at the front of the away end, where dozens of Bayern fans stood.
It did not lead to a stoppage in play and the match continued without further interruption.
Aston Villa v Young Boys
More serious trouble occurred at Villa Park on Thursday during Aston Villa’s Europa League game against Young Boys.
After Villa’s opening goal in the 27th minute, objects were thrown from the away section, including one that struck forward Donyell Malen, who had celebrated in front of the visiting fans.
Further objects were thrown as Villa scored their second goal later in the first half, while Young Boys fans clashed with police.
The match was halted for more than five minutes.
Two away fans were arrested on suspicion of affray and assaulting a cop, while a further four were arrested at Birmingham Airport on Friday.
Nottingham Forest v Malmo
Prior to kick-off in Nottingham Forest’s Europa League tie against Malmo on Thursday, some away fans were involved in a brief confrontation with stewards at the City Ground.
