Munster fan unplugs VAR monitor during penalty check

A Preussen Munster fan unplugged a pitchside VAR monitor during Sunday’s 2. Bundesliga match against Hertha Berlin as the referee went to the screen to check a possible penalty.

The screen suddenly went blank as the official prepared to review a potential penalty for Hertha towards the end of the first half. It later emerged that the fan had jumped from the stands into the technical area and pulled out the power cable.

The disruption briefly halted the review, but the decision process continued with the video assistant referee working remotely and a penalty was eventually awarded to the away side.

The match ended 2–1 to Hertha.
