Hearts and Celtic fans clashed near Tynecastle Park ahead of their Scottish Premiership match on Saturday.
The incident took place on McLeod Street at around 6pm, two hours before kick-off.
There was a big police presence on the scene pretty quickly and they managed to keep the two groups apart and send them on their way in different directions.
A number of arrests were made and there were no injuries.
